ENGR. REY IGNACIO DIAZ & BATCH'70

Greetings!

I can't begin to express what your support means to me and my family. I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this scholarship and I am deeply appreciative of your support. The money was definitely helpful, but more than the monetary value, I so greatly appreciate the thought behind your generosity. I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to you. In my four years of studying in college, you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, learning.

With your help, my family and of course our God, I obtained my degree in Nursing last 2008. Again, I’m thankful because I passed the Nursing Licensure Exam ’08. I am already a licensed nurse though never had a chance to work in the hospital because we all know that its not that easy to get the job in the Philippines and also somewhat impractical because of very low compensation compare to the hard work. I am not saying that I don’t want to work because of the salary, but practicality-wise I need to help my family first and so I worked as a call center agent. It also didn’t take that long though. By the end of December ’09 I tried my luck and flew to Norway. I am now an aupair here and hoping to become a nurse in the near future. My host family is so nice and hospitable. They pretty much let me do whatever I want. They are also paying for my Norwegian course. It is most important to understand their language for me to be able to work as a nurse and I am really working hard on achieving that.

Please know I will never forget your kind gesture. From the bottom of my heart, thank you again for your generosity and support. It has inspired me to help others. I promise you I will work very hard and eventually give something back, maybe, a scholarship to needy but intelligent students like myself. I hope one day I will be able to help them achieve their goals just as you have helped me. I haven’t achieve any of my goals yet, but one thing’s for sure… I’m almost there. I know God will help me.

I’m hoping that you won’t stop helping. Our God sees every good deed. I am looking forward to seeing you in person, someday.

Sincerely,

Loreley H. Alcera
